Business Plan For Fruit Concentrate Manufacturing
₦250,000.00 – ₦650,000.00
This report analyses the market, technical, financial and ecological feasibility of setting up a Fruit concentrate processing plant in Nigeria.
Nigeria is the world’s 7th largest producer of tropical fruits including Pineapples, Oranges, Mangos e.t.c. However, despite the massive production of tropical fruits, juice production in Nigeria is not commensurate with fruit production. Nigerian government has banned the importation of fruit juices in retail packs since 2002 to stimulate the fruit value chain, but most Nigerian juice manufacturers import juice concentrates from Europe, Asia and South Africa after which these manufacturers process and dilute these concentrates to make juice. The manufacturers Association of Nigeria estimates that N165 billion (equivalent to about USD$1 billion based on foreign exchange rates in 2014) was spent in 2014 on fruit concentrate imports while the current Minister of Agriculture – Audu Ogbeh stated that USD$4.6 billion was spent in 2015. Market opportunities in the juice industry therefore exist especially in the production of fruit concentrate.
